We can use digital textbooks in class in many ways (from an organizational perspective), depending on the equipment we have and which we obviously have to adapt to:
- If we have a premium dating of about 30 computers: it's very simple (but in fact is the most difficult to manage, for it's not easy, believe me, to hold in your hands, to explain and to and work with almost 30 children and just as many computers). But let’s say it's very simple: each child is quietly working ("playing" as they say) at their computer, and all you have to do is check the reports provided by the computer, in which you can see the results (in-depth reports) and progress (hopefully) recorded by each child. - If we have a more modest endowment, but still good, of 6- 8 computers: then we sit children at a computer in groups of 3 or4 ... then proceed as mentioned in point 1.
- If you have just one computer (as is very often the case): group activity (led by teacher).
The digital textbook content can be projected on a screen or on an interactive table. This way, students can follow in a larger size, all proposed sequences in the textbook, and the teacher may conduct activities in front of the whole class.
The digital textbook faithfully reproduces the printed version, but enriches it with many multimedia activities that make learning more attractive.
- If you have no computer (most common case) we rely on your entrepreneurial spirit, and the fact that you have a personal laptop or an older PC that you could like to bring (at least sometimes) to school ...... and then apply step 3.
- Perhaps the most important way of using it is: HOME, BY YOURSELF! Interactive textbooks can be run on (almost) any PC (personal computer), desktop or laptop, with Windows, Linux or Mac OS. But it can be used (and probably children will be more excited about this one) on any tablet or smart phone that has internet connection. Children will be extremely pleased to see, again and again, the animation which illustrates the forming of the handwritten capital letter ,,C”. And all this is happening on their tablet, at their work desk, next to their ABC notebook (sorry, the "Communication workbook"). Or in the car, in traffic, they can "play" some math games (exercises and problems, actually).
